Meetup & Photoshoot with Sid Madathikunnel
We had a fabulous meetup in Seoul with select photographers and models to collaborate together, this is some of the shoot I did with one of the models, Sid Madathikunnel.
At first a couple of us photographers were sticking together a bit taking some shots with Sid, and another model as they were good friends already, before pairing off and doing some separate shooting. I started out with Sid. We were located in Seoul’s fashion area, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, also the location of Seoul Fashion Week. We had beautiful architecture in the background.
Sid Madathikunnel is newer to modeling, she’s loving it though. I’ve honestly had less experience working with models, I do a lot of other types of shooting. I definitely should have worked harder to chat and make things comfortable. I was a bit slow getting ready and getting into the swing of things at the start of the afternoon. Things were a little quiet, hopefully she wasn’t too awkward. I still practiced a bit playing with settings and testing out the flash even a little bit to see what I could come up with.
The shot that I took with the flash has a little bit of a different taste, but I kind of still like it. I didn’t direct her at all, her arms and hands in that position really works I think. Of course, I was just testing things out to see what I could do.
Sid was friends with our other model, Jay Bridges, since they were young, they’re from the same town, known each other for a long time and are now in Korea together. The chemistry between them was really great, with him around she would loosen up completely, and with him having already done modelling before would even direct her a bit, and of course joke around with her. Which helped me out to capture some silly shots for them, of the two joking around, and of course a closer shots with just her laughing and smiling very naturally.
I later worked with the two of them together and was able to take a shot with both Sid and Jamarion against the Namsan Wall, in our second location. The shot wasn’t really one of favourite shots from the day but it was one of the photographs that Sid said she really loved.
Here are a few photographs of Sid and Jamarion fooling around.
